Locked Loads

ARCUS is a multi-user collaborative environment. As such, certain measures were put into place to prevent the corruption of data from multiple people trying to edit the same Order or Load at the same time.
Locking is the main method of preventing this type of data corruption. Locking an Order or Load prevents other users from entering the Edit screen for that Order or Load.

You can tell when an Order or Load is Locked by the Lock icon next to the Order or Load number on the respective grid.

Orders or Loads locked by other users has a red icon. The Orders or Loads locked by you are shown in blue.

Just entering an Edit screen itself does not Lock the Order or Load to other users. Some other action must take place to enable the Locking mode. These types of actions include:
• A user entering the Edit screen and making a change but has not yet saved the changes.
• A user creates a new Order but has not yet entered enough information to change its status to “Open”.
• A user creates a new Load but has not yet entered all of the required information.

You can see who has an Order or Load Locked by clicking on the Order or Load number. This will show a popup window with the user name of who has initiated the Locked mode. They will need to Un-Lock the Order or Load to open it for other users to edit.

Currently, there are a few different ways that a user can Un-Lock the Edit screen that they have Locked. These include doing one of the following:
• Enter into the Order Maintenance or Load Entry screen and hit the “Cancel” button.
• Enter into the Order Maintenance or Load Entry screen and hit the “Save” button.
• From the grid, click directly on the blue lock icon.
