Create New Order Button

A ‘Create New Order’ button has been added to the Order Information Block on the Load Maintenance screen.

Reminder that this option will only show up if the other Orders on the Load are set as LTL. If the existing Order on the Load is set as FTL, then the Order Information block does not show the ‘New Order’ or ‘Existing Order’ buttons.

This now gives the ability to start a new Order directly from the Load Maintenance screen.

New LTL Features

Note: Though the video below shows an older version of Arcus, the items described are still in use as of September 2021. -SY

New features have been added to the Load Creation and Load Maintenance screens that will help when building or editing LTL Loads that have identified and listed commodities in their stops.

Stop and Commodity identifiers have been added to aid in planning the route.

A video has been created showing where the new features are located.

How to Use Carrier Lane Search

What is it?

The Lane Search tool finds Carriers that have traveled along the same route for an agent in the past. This will search the Load history of the branch and compile a list of the Carriers that have driven the Lane for this agent along the path indicated in the specified time period. (Currently, this does include Loads created and maintained in the Broker system.)

Once this search is performed, a list is compiled of all of the Carriers. Then the user is given the option to email selected Carriers the details about the Load and invite them to make contact if they are interested.

Search Terms

“Loadable” – the carrier’s insurance is current and not expired. There are no other blocks in place by the Compliance Department

You are also able to Sort the Carriers by Load Count, Average Margin, Average Freight/Mile, Average Carrier/Mile, Average Freight Total or Average Carrier Total.

Getting to the Carrier Lane Search

1. From the Load Tracking grid, click the drop down arrow next to the Load Number then choose “Edit”.

3. On the Load Maintenance screen, you will find the Carrier Lane Search in the Carrier Information block.

4. Clicking the “Carrier Lane Search” button will pull up a popup window.

Changing Criteria

The search button, when clicked, will pre-fill the search information such as dates and states, but this criteria may be changed to create new searches. The user can change the dates, destinations and how the information is sorted. You can also choose to only show “Loadable” Carriers.

Key Pieces

Some of the more important pieces from a Carrier Lane Search, aside from the listings themselves, are some of the informational pieces within – whether the Carrier is up to date on their insurance, if there are any loading restrictions and pay histories. This information will aid the user in choosing whom to offer available Loads to.

Currently, up to 25 email recipients may be sent at once. Click the checkmark by a carrier to select them for emailing. Preview the message by selecting the Email Message tab at the top of the screen. Select Email Selected to send the email.

Alternate Ways to Use Lane Search

You can use this tool any time without entering a load.

  1. From the main menu, click on Dispatch.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. The only option available at this time is the Lane Search feature.

Re-Ordering Stops

The images and video in the tutorial below were taken from an earlier version of Arcus. The program may look different slightly now, but these functions are still accurate as of September 2021. – SY

There are instances when you will need to change the order of the stops in your route. This may come before or after you have assigned a carrier to the load. Continue reading “Re-Ordering Stops”

Posting to the Load Boards

The images in this tutorial were taking using an earlier version of Arcus. However, the steps and information are still accurate as of September 2021. -SY

Posting available loads to Load Boards is an important aspect of creating a Load. ARCUS currently utilizes two Load Boards. One is the internal Jerue Load Board and the other is the Load Board from Internet Truck Stop, also known as ITS. Continue reading “Posting to the Load Boards”

Explanation of Statuses

Update Note 9/3/21: The appearance of Arcus has changed slightly since the images below were taken. However, the steps outlined are still accurate.

ARCUS has a variety of Statuses that are available throughout the life of the Load. These Statuses can be found at both the Order level as well as the Load level. There is a natural progression of Statuses as well, beginning at the creation of an Order and following through to the final release of the Load to the Accounting department.  Continue reading “Explanation of Statuses”

Adding A Carrier To A Load

Update Note: Though the appearance of Arcus has changed slightly since the images below were taken, the steps outlined here are still accurate as of 9/3/21. -SY

When adding a carrier to a load, some of the time you will have used the carrier in the past and they will be an existing carrier within ARCUS and have a carrier number attached. Other times they have not been used before and will need to be added to ARCUS. Continue reading “Adding A Carrier To A Load”
